Questions, answered

The things people ask most before hiring a van. Can't see yours? Call us on 0141 474 7250.

Booking & requirements

What licence do I need to hire a van?

All of our vans can be driven on a standard UK car licence (category B) — no special entitlement needed. We'll confirm any conditions, such as how long you've held your licence, when you book.

How old do I need to be to hire?

We'll confirm our driver age and licence requirements when you enquire — just let us know your age and how long you've held your licence, and we'll tell you straight away if there's anything to be aware of. Please bring your full driving licence when you collect.

What do I need to bring to collect the van?

Bring your full driving licence and proof of address (such as a recent utility bill or bank statement), along with the payment card in your name. We check ID and proof of address in person at collection.

Can I hire for just one day, or longer?

Yes. Rates are per day, and you can book anything from a single day upwards. Tell us your dates when you request a quote.

Pricing & payment

Is there a deposit?

Yes — we take a refundable deposit, held on your card for the duration of the hire and returned after you bring the van back in good condition. We'll confirm the exact amount when you book.

How do I pay?

Payment is taken when you collect the van, using the card in the hirer's name. We'll confirm accepted payment methods when you book.

Are there any extra charges on top of the daily rate?

We keep pricing simple, but a few things to be aware of before you book:

  • Deposit — a refundable deposit is held on your card and returned after the van is brought back in good condition.
  • Insurance excess — the amount you'd be liable for towards any damage; confirmed when you book.
  • Fuel — like-for-like: return the van with the same fuel level it was collected with.
  • Mileage — we'll confirm any mileage allowance for your hire when you book.
  • Additional drivers — extra drivers can be added; just let us know at booking.
  • Cleaning — please return the van reasonably clean; a charge may apply if it comes back excessively dirty.

We'll always confirm the full price and any applicable charges when we quote — no surprises at the counter.

Collection, fuel & return

Do you deliver the van, or do I collect it?

Collection only. You collect the van from our depot at 147 Drakemire Drive, Glasgow G45 9SA, and return it there. We don't deliver.

What's the fuel policy?

We work on a like-for-like fuel policy: the van comes with a set fuel level and you return it at the same level. If it's returned with less, we'll charge for the shortfall. We'll go over this with you at collection.

What if I return the van late?

Please return the van by the agreed time, as a late return can affect the next customer. If you think you'll be delayed, call us on 0141 474 7250 as early as you can and we'll do our best to help — additional charges may apply for late returns.

Insurance & if something goes wrong

Is insurance included?

Yes — our vans come with insurance and mechanical breakdown cover included. As with all van hire, there's an insurance excess (the amount you'd be liable for towards any damage), which we'll confirm when you book.

What do I do if the van breaks down?

First, get yourself and the van to a safe place, then call us on 0141 474 7250. Mechanical breakdown (engine, gearbox or a genuine fault with the vehicle) is covered — we'll arrange roadside help or recovery and get you moving again.

Problems caused by how the van's been used — a flat tyre, wrong fuel, a flat battery from lights left on, or keys locked inside — aren't classed as mechanical breakdown, and any call-out for these is charged to the hirer.

What happens if I get a puncture or damage a tyre?

Punctures and tyre damage (nails, kerbing, cuts) are the hirer's responsibility — this is standard across van hire, as they're treated as damage rather than normal wear. If it happens, call us on 0141 474 7250 before arranging any repair so we can advise.

We check the tyres with you at collection, so please point out anything you're not happy with before you drive off.

What if I get a parking ticket, speeding fine or toll charge?

Any parking tickets (PCNs), bus-lane or speeding fines, congestion or toll charges (like the Dart Charge or Glasgow's LEZ) that happen during your hire are your responsibility. If we receive one for the period you had the van, we'll be in touch to sort it out, and an admin fee may apply for handling it.

The easiest way to avoid all of this is to follow the road signs and pay any toll or LEZ charge on time yourself.
